2012 has proven to be a good year for once promising juveniles to make
their 3-year-old debuts. It’s a welcome trend that has not been the case in
recent years. Friday, it was the
debut for Kentucky Jockey Club (G2) winner Gemologist and Hopeful (G1) winner
Currency Swap. While both finished
1-2, it was Gemologist who received all the rightful buzz with his 7-length
dusting. Trainer Todd Pletcher
would not commit to a particular next race, but said it would be April 7th
or 14th. Gemologist
currently sits at #25 on the graded earnings list// Another noteworthy
allowance took place at Santa Anita Friday. Senor Rain upset the field, which included graded stakes
placed Brigand and overhyped Hierro and Consulado// Todd Pletcher announced
Discreet Dancer will take another stab at the Kentucky Derby with a start in
the Louisiana Derby (G2)// All info on Saturday’s Rebel (G2) can be found on
the race page here//
